1. Who We Are

RJ Hill Electrical ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are an NICEIC and MCS approved electrical, solar PV, battery storage and EV charging installer based in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. Any question about this policy or how we handle your data should be sent to the contact details above.

2. Information We Collect

When you submit an enquiry through our contact form, we collect:

• Your first and last name
• Email address and phone number
• Your property location/address
• The service you're enquiring about and property type
• Your preferred start time and any message or details you provide

If you contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp instead, we collect whatever information you choose to share with us in that conversation. Our website hosting also generates limited technical information automatically (such as IP address and browser type) as part of normal server operation. We do not collect or store payment card details on our servers.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

• Contract / pre-contract steps — to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, and deliver installation or service work you've asked for.
• Legal obligation — to meet our record-keeping duties as an NICEIC, MCS, TrustMark and HIES registered contractor, and other regulatory or building-safety requirements.
• Legitimate interests — for general business administration, keeping our records accurate, and preventing fraud or misuse of this website.
• Consent — where we ask you directly, for example before sending you marketing communications or setting any non-essential cookie.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, carry out and certify installation or maintenance work, meet our accreditation and building-regulations record-keeping obligations, and send you confirmation of anything you've submitted through this site. We will only send you marketing communications if you've opted in, and you can withdraw that consent at any time. We do not sell your data.

5. Who We Share It With

We only share personal data with the following categories of recipient, and only as far as necessary to run this website and our business:

• Supabase — the database provider that securely stores contact-form submissions on our behalf.
• Lovable — the platform that hosts this website and sends automated confirmation and notification emails when you submit an enquiry.
• Meta / WhatsApp — if you choose to message us via the WhatsApp links on this site, that conversation is also subject to WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
• Google — this site embeds a Google Map on the Contact page and privacy-enhanced YouTube video on some service pages, both of which may process data when they load; and, if you've consented via the cookie banner, Google Analytics to help us understand how the site is used. See section 7.
• Regulatory and accreditation bodies — such as NICEIC, MCS, TrustMark, HIES, your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) or local Building Control, where required to certify or register installation work.

Each of these providers is only permitted to use your data for the purpose we've instructed. We do not sell your data to anyone.

6. Data Retention

General enquiries that don't lead to work being carried out are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up and answer any further questions, then securely deleted. Records relating to completed installation or certification work are retained for as long as required under our NICEIC, MCS and TrustMark obligations, and in any case for no longer than necessary to meet legal, warranty or accounting requirements.

7. Cookies and Third-Party Content

This website sets strictly necessary cookies (including one that remembers your cookie-banner preference), and uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — but only if you choose "Accept All" on the cookie banner; choosing "Necessary Only" means Analytics is never loaded. Embedded content such as the Google Map on our Contact page and privacy-enhanced YouTube videos on some service pages may set their own cookies once loaded — see our Cookie Policy for full details.

8. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses, or a provider's participation in an approved adequacy framework.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Have inaccurate data corrected
• Request erasure of your data, where applicable
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Request a portable copy of your data

10. Automated Decision-Making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.

11. Children's Privacy

This website is intended for general business use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
